MOE results of the Air Quality Monitoring (TAGA) survey
Prepared by Atlantic Packaging

The Ministry of the Environment has provided a copy of the Technical Memorandum that discusses their sample collection and analysis of the air samples collected. The memorandum is available to the community and to the general public by contacting Jason Mitchell at the email address below.

Testing Overview and Mandate

• Air samples were taken on Nov. 10, 12, 15, and 17, 2010 in    response to the community’s concerns about odours from Atlantic    (111 Progress Ave and 333 Progress Ave)
• Production data was provided to the MOE to give evidence of    production levels during this sample period.
• MOE was tasked to measure compounds in the vicinity of these
   two Atlantic locations
• MOE was tasked with determining if Ontario Regulation 419/05 or    MOE guidelines concentrations were being met.

Note: The production data confirmed that there were no alterations to the facilities’ operations during the survey period.

Results

• Concentrations of the organic volatile compounds tested were
   well below the MOE guidelines
• A portion of samples collected fell above the minimum odour    threshold (The lowest concentration of a certain odour compound    that is perceivable by the human sense of smell)

Conclusions and Recommendations

• Concentrations measured of the volatile organic compounds are
all well below the MOE guidelines
• The results show that at these levels, there are no health
impacts (The Associate Medial Officer of Health from Toronto
   Public Health)
• MOE recommends conducting another survey in the summer
   (June or July)

Atlantic is pleased to confirm that there is no potential for health impacts. Despite this excellent outcome, we will continue to make improvements to ensure the satisfaction of the community members in the area.

Thank you.
